Mom + Dad on the Loose!

With bags packed and 6 whole kid-free days ahead of us, the adventure was on - Paul Simon at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, here we come!!

We usually try to make it south to Morrison, CO, for a concert at Red Rocks every summer. It's been a favorite spot of my husband's long before we met and finally, summer of 2014, he introduced me to the magic of the amphitheatre with a trip to see Beck perform. I fell in love instantly with the charm of the quaint town, the adorable bed + breakfast-style cottages we stayed in at the foot of the rocks, and the amazing amphitheatre itself, with its open-air stage and seating built right into the rocks, providing both stellar acoustics and spectacular views into the city lights of Denver once the sun goes down. Definitely add it to your bucket list if you haven't reached for it already.

We love a good road trip and the drive straight south through Montana, Wyoming and Colorado gave way to sweeping landscapes and stunning views. It really felt like a sharp departure from Canada, especially with the Sean Hannity Show on the radio! (Side note: is anyone listening to a great podcast? We struggled to find something new + captivating to listen to.)

Upon arriving in Morrison and checking into our gorgeous cottage (the Honeymoon Suite, tour below) we decided to seek out some food and quickly found a Latin bistro called Beso de Arte that delivered phenomenal fare + atmosphere and a fantasic outdoor patio with fountains and flowers everywhere. Charm factor off-the-charts at this beautiful spot. We ended up returning the next day for lunch.

Paul Simon put on an incredible performance. The night could not have been more perfect, with a cool breeze following a +30 day and a clear crescent moon waxing high over Red Rocks. We had seats in Row 8 that were smack in the center, which made for a wonderful view. My husband, the Paul superfan, was in heaven and our time away was simply magical. Just the recharge we needed before reuniting with our little man + returning to regular life!!
